An exciting museum made only with 3D mural design!

"Eye-catching 3D floor decal for commercial spaces"

The world’s largest museums consist of works that are enclosed in a glass enclosure, and if you get too close to them, the sound of an alarm will fill the place. But interactive museums are different. In these museums, visitors can safely approach the works and take photos and videos with them as if they were part of the visual identity of these museums. These museums usually help visitors experience a different space with the help of augmented reality techniques, light, sound, imagery, and 3D mural design. These techniques are constantly updated and create different experiences that leave a lasting impression on the audience’s mind.

2 hours of excitement and pleasure only with 3D stickers

Since 2010, when the Trickeye Museum opened in Seoul and gained significant attention, many optical illusion museums have been built around the world and have received a lot of attention. This path continued until 2023, when the largest 3D illusion art museum for an immersive experience opened in Toronto. An attractive and unique museum that consists only of 3D stickers and carefully crafted 3D mural design. The iArtS Museum told its audience that “You are not just a spectator; you are a part of these works of art.” This approach, along with a lot of exciting 3D stickers, made people fall in love with this museum very quickly and queue up to visit.

You will be surprised by these stickers!

The iArtS Museum is located on the second floor of a historic building at 580 King St W in Toronto. In this museum, you can step into the world of Narnia and, with the help of optical illusion art and 3D mural design, get out of the boring world of the usual and discover an amazing 3D world. Each session in the museum is two hours, and you have enough time to take pictures with all the stickers. This museum consists of 20 different 3D stickers, each designed by illusion artists to evoke a realistic space and make you feel like you are really inside the scene.

The Dimensions of the iArtS 3D Sticker Museum

The iArtS Museum, which launched its operations in 2022, was conceived and built within a space of approximately 500 square meters. The dedicated section for its 3D stickers occupies nearly 220 square meters. The shared and common areas take up about 150 meters, while the private area reserved for 3D installations covers roughly 100 square meters.

However, it’s worth noting that constructing a similar museum doesn’t necessarily demand such a vast footprint. A highly appealing and functional museum can certainly be designed even within a 200-meter space. In our original layout, 17 3D artworks were installed across the 220 square meters, and our practical experience has shown that a compact and impressive gallery can be created in smaller settings, even down to one hundred square meters; though, in that scenario, the quantity of displayed works would naturally be reduced.

If intended as an ancillary part of a larger museum, the optical illusion museum component could be implemented in a space of around 100 square meters. But for a truly complete and independent museum—one that includes essential areas like an entrance, ticket counter, and dedicated photography section—a minimum of 200 meters of space is highly recommended.

From free fall without fear to diving into fantasy

The museum’s stickers are very diverse, and you can take photos in fantasy, funny, and scary genres according to your taste. These stickers are printed with proper engineering and realistic dimensions so that you can easily place yourself on them and take realistic photos and videos. Suppose you are afraid of heights but want an exciting photo while bungee jumping. Just visit this museum and take a photo with a 3D bungee jumping sticker.

If you are a fan of fantasy and the surreal world, you can immerse yourself in the world of Harry Potter. Just place yourself on the sticker in this section and fly above the city on the magical broom of Hogwarts school. Be sure to wear special socks before entering so that you don’t damage the stickers with your shoes.

This museum is also great for couples and families. You can go to the museum with your family members or friends and stand together to have an attractive photo and a special souvenir for years with your loved ones.

If you are not very artistic or a professional photographer, don’t worry at all. The museum guides will help you place the camera in the right spot and position yourself on the sticker in a way that will take the best and most attractive photos. For example, you can take an upside-down photo inside a cylinder filled with water and recreate the late Houdini’s trick, with assistance.

What’s Involved in Creating a 3D Sticker Museum?

The journey to building a museum always starts with choosing the perfect location. But that’s not all; simultaneously with space selection, we have to develop the scenario and concept for the artworks. This crucial step determines the exact experience we want to deliver to the audience.

Next, a preliminary plan is drawn up to map out the visitor’s path and the precise division of rooms and spaces. We then move into the technical design and lighting stage. After that, the placement of the works and the final artistic design are finalized. Finally, we implement the installations and wall coverings. While this is happening, the stickers are printed and produced, getting the museum ready for the final installation and grand opening. Visit our gallery to see more examples.

How Many Artworks Should a 3D Sticker Museum Have?

Our experience suggests that a museum’s appeal is directly linked to the number of works and the time visitors spend exploring them. In smaller cities, a compact gallery might be attractive enough. However, in major cities where visitors travel longer distances, a museum should have at least 20 artworks to keep them entertained for about an hour. While even 7 pieces can create an impressive 3D gallery in a 100-meter space, a truly complete museum requires a larger collection.

What Are the Typical Sticker Dimensions?

The size of each sticker is flexible and depends on the space available. On average, each piece is about three and a half meters wide, three meters high, and two meters deep. That said, we’ve executed stickers with a width of six meters in some projects.

The design process begins with 3D modeling on the computer. From there, the work is either printed and mounted directly onto the wall, or it can be executed as a hand-painted mural. For projects prioritizing speed and precision, printing is the better choice. However, for a more artistic flair, hand-painted murals are used. All prints rely on international standard materials to guarantee quality and lasting durability.

How Long Does Designing a Sticker Take?

Designing a single, custom sticker usually takes around four weeks. For larger projects, encompassing 20 to 30 works, the entire collection is typically designed over a four-month period. You have two main options: designs can be completely custom and tailored to your vision, or you can select from our popular, ready-made designs, which can dramatically cut costs by up to a quarter. What is the Estimated Cost to Build 3D Sticker Museum?

The Salso Design Studio handles the entire process of museum design and construction, managing everything from the initial concept right through to execution. This means you won’t need to worry about the scenario, layout, or the presentation of the artworks.

The final project cost depends heavily on the complexity of your concept. For example, building an average theme park in a country with typical implementation costs is estimated to be around 500,000 dollars, which covers design, infrastructure, lighting, and full installation.

However, optical illusion museums or 3D sticker galleries are much more accessible. A complete 3D sticker museum can be designed and implemented from scratch for approximately $150,000. This figure includes design, decor, lighting, and partitioning. Keep in mind that if the chosen space requires basic infrastructure like electrical wiring, ventilation, or restrooms, a separate cost will be needed to prepare the site first.

What Does Designing 3D Stickers Cost?

The design cost for each sticker varies based on its size and complexity, but it averages around $3,000. The minimum design price is $500, with more intricate works potentially costing up to $12,000. The installation and implementation of each piece also averages about $1,500.

Stickers typically last between three and five years. Most museums, however, opt to refresh their space every three years to ensure a new and exciting experience for repeat visitors.

What’s the Difference Between 3D Sticker Museums, Optical Illusion Museums, and Theme Parks?

3D Sticker Museums are distinct from Optical Illusion Museums. Illusion museums do not use 3D stickers; they are more of a hybrid between a theme park and a science museum. 3D museums, conversely, are primarily built around 3D painting and design, offering visitors a highly interactive experience centered on photography and direct engagement with the artwork.
